I created portraits based on various textiles, such as paisley. I wanted to capture the breadth of design changes that this textile has undergone over the years to arrive at the current version of what we now recognize as paisley. I used color, ornamentation and a 1960s model to capture the Persian, Indian and Scottish roots of this textile.
